There are directives I don’t agree with. Think positive is one of them.
It’s worthwhile to take a more nuanced look.
Negative thoughts just as much as positive thoughts are the consequence of a judgment or transformation we’ve applied to our thoughts.
Either it’s a thought we’ve had to then judge it as positive or negative. Or it is an expectation to generate thoughts that are positive or negative.
It’s stepping away from the reality of the thoughts we may have.
It’s giving our inner critic the ability to decide what is right.
It’s preventing people from acknowledging their thoughts and give themselves a moment to decide if that thought can have an impact on the given situation.
It’s taking away the moment between stimulus and response.
It’s making us judge others instead of giving us the space to be tolerant.
