The whole and its parts

The whole & its parts

The expert’s problem

The knowledge an expert has probably is his biggest problem.

It’s a knowledge he’s been building all his career and one he has been happily relying on.

Whenever he now gets attached to it, it becomes difficult to let it go. This is especially true when other knowledge contradicts his knowledge.

Learning and growing become limited by his existing worldview or knowledge framework.

Having amassed all this knowledge adds to a challenge experts experience, the one of having to deliver a solution. The more knowledge he has, the less acceptable it can become to find himself in a situation in which he has no solution. It shouldn’t become an excuse to deliver a bad solution.
