When groups share that they want to gain clarity, they usually mean that they want safety.
They want to be sure that they understood everything as they were supposed to understand it. Or, that they have been understood exactly as they meant it. Dealing with the tension of not being sure they have been seen and understood is asking a toll they want to avoid.
What is says about the team, is that it’s fearing conflicts. They may have had bad experiences with conflicts in the past or they might assume that conflicts in a team is a sign of a dysfunctional team.
Finding a way to deal with conflicts healthily is a challenge and takes time to learn. Once it’s learned conflicts become a constructive element in the journey of doing the work.
