When talking with coachees I’ll often hear them immediately point at a problem that needs to be fixed, something that isn’t according to their expectations.

Sometimes fixing the problem is what’s most needed. But most often, the question is what they need to learn. What are they not aware of that will help them most?

A good start is to understand the nature of the problem.
