The whole and its parts

Desired outcome

Something one doesn’t have control of but wants can be a desired outcome.

The risk of making the desired outcome a goal is to believe that one can achieve it solely through one’s actions. That is for example,  that it is sufficient to develop the skills needed and that developing these skills entitles to receiving the desired outcome.

While dreams can come true, there is no simple cause-and-effect relationship one can rely on.

Experience is a result of doing the effort to learn and apply a skill.

What this experience is, how close it is to one’s expectations, and how that experience is integrated will contribute to the desired outcome. There are too many factors involved in this to guarantee desired outcomes happen.

This is especially true for ideas like success, fame, happiness, playing a mesmerizing piece of music, or telling a story that changes someone’s journey.
