As far as I can remember, I’ve never experienced complete silence.
However, I often hear silence.
Sometimes it is disturbing. But that’s only the case when the things that become present in such silence don’t feel wanted.
Sometimes it is pleasant. But that’s only the case when whatever is present resembles thoughts and feelings I appreciate.
We call it silence when the noise it contains becomes less chaotic when it starts to create resonance.
It doesn’t matter if the things that appear are seen as confusing and contributing to clarity. What matters is our willingness to consider the resonance. That is when our reaction isn’t about good or bad, but when it engages with the resonance that appeared.
