An interesting paradox is how the appearance of discomfort is perceived as a problem despite the knowledge that stepping outside of one’s comfort zone is a necessary condition of learning.
It’s a somewhat curious limitation of the assumption that the best chance of being successful results from having the best possible circumstances to learn.
While it certainly is true that having the best possible circumstances may increase our chances of being successful, the next best thing is to grab the opportunity as it appears.
Naturally, it is also important to notice when an opportunity isn’t an opportunity for us. But when it shows up again and again, it might be worth it to look into that discomfort and ask what it is trying to teach us.
The astonishing result is that a lesson learned often also leads to experiencing more comfort with that situation when it repeats itself.
The effort that once was an obligation becomes a choice.
