It is probably better described as the quest to be right.
Which then probably is more of a path to find how to avoid failures.
Even if there is an understanding, that in science truth is always conditional, it is quickly forgotten once one doesn’t need to use the rigor science requires.
It’s a shortcut.
Anything that seems to be repeatable becomes a process with an expected outcome.
It’s reassuring.
As it works with processes the question then seems to become, why not apply it to life?
Because there are too many variables to make it into a process.
Because humans are unique and can’t easily replicate other people’s life.
As flawed as it might be, people use their truth.
Some care enough to spend their life figuring out what it is.
