The whole and its parts

The whole & its parts

Forces leaders consider

Leaders seek to achieve results.

And, leaders are confronted with groups of people having diverse ideas, needs, habits, and expectations.

It means, that leaders have to find a way to hold both ideas in mind.

To lead the group they are working with, a leader searches for ways to bring the group together and enable everyone to be heard.

To achieve results, he has to find how to align what he promised to do as a leader with the variety of ideas in the group. In essence, he needs to create a situation in which he can think together with the group and where the group engages in thinking together with him.

Which is how everyone becomes engaged and learns what to do.

As long as no decision has been taken or no agreement is found, the leader has to pay attention to how these forces pull in different directions.

To ease this process he will organize the circumstances of his meetings through a protocol and make the content of the meeting predictable through an agenda.
