There are two ways to seek to do so.
One is to make sure one understands what the other person wants and to do whatever possible to implement what they expect us to do. They might end up very pleased and appreciate it as the right thing to do.
Another is to do what feels right to us. It’s a sense within us, a decision that has become clear, and the appreciation that the existing ambiguity is balanced.
Whatever the choice is, it won’t answer all the questions we asked ourselves. It may not even make us happy. And we’ll be aware that somewhere someone will not be pleased with what we do or have done. But we’ll also be aware that some people will appreciate what we do.
And sometimes that person is only us. But somehow it still feels right and a sense of calm stays with us.
