The whole and its parts

The whole & its parts

Being different, Being special

When we see someone as different, we compare ourselves.

We see what that person has more than we have. We see what this person can do and we can’t. We might also see what we have more.

In fact, comparing each other is a competition. It is linked to wanting to be more. It can also be dreading to be less.

It is a way to keep ourselves in the center of the matter.

Seeing the other as special is a way to see her. It is a way to connect by seeing worth, by seeing value. When we are able to see how someone is special we can address them as the special person they are. We are being appreciative. We are being generous.

It doesn’t change our worth. It makes our world richer.
