The idea of self-development is widely accepted today, but for many, it has morphed into an expectation.
This might still be fine.
However, it makes the source of this drive even more relevant.
The question that arises is whether the drive for self-development results from a place of self-love or a feeling of inadequacy.
If it is the latter, the chances are high, that one’s self-development serves the expectations of others. Change then becomes something being done to be happy rather than out of respect for oneself.
Change thus is an expression of how one rejects oneself. Instead of acceptance of oneself, it is judgments and criticizing that describe one’s rejection of oneself.
