A situation I find myself frequently in is one when colleagues or friends share that they trust me. It’s always a privilege and appreciable kindness.

At the same time, it can also feel uncomfortable.

This happens when the expressed trust seems to be unquestionable. As if it was a belief that I wouldn’t make errors or wouldn’t be able to disappoint them.

It makes it difficult to have their critical support. That is to have support that consists of people sharing their questions, their own need for support, or willing to listen to their doubts.

It means that they have decided to deal with problems appearing to them on their own. And it means that I’m left with having to see my blind spots on my own.
