Never miss a meeting

Time is one of the most precious resources one has. It cannot be saved and is spent once it is gone. Some of it must be invested in ourselves, for example, to restore or care for our energy level. On other occasions, the existing energy is used hoping to achieve specific objectives.

Meetings will be located somewhere in there.

One reason to attend meetings is to make sure one is seen, or one doesn’t miss anything of what is being said in a meeting. Much of that is a description of the relationship the team has with authority and how it enables success.

It often comes with the assumption that it is best never to miss a meeting. Risks in the relationship with authority are sought to be avoided.

Another reason to attend meetings is the knowledge of how that meeting will contribute to one’s objectives and how being present at such a meeting enables one to do the work one decided to do. Much of this allows to see how clear a person is of how to do their work and what choices need to be made.

It’s a situation that usually is closer to assuming that it is the relevant meetings that are not to be missed.  In this case, the risk is seen in not achieving one’s objectives and being unable to do the work that leads to these objectives.
