Communication is one of the most important competencies leaders can develop.

But relationship asks for more than communication.

The even more important competency a leader can develop is to create circumstances within which others desire to listen to what they are sharing and hear the message.

On a similar level is the leader’s ability to hear what is being said. Here, hearing is different from listening in the sense that one becomes aware of what one needs to hear.
