The whole and its parts

The whole & its parts

I don’t know

I don’t know if the motorway will be empty and allow me to arrive on time.

I don’t know if the shop will have the shoes I’m looking for.

I don’t know how many times I’ll wake up during the night.

I don’t know if the next customer will decide to go for the project I’ve suggested.

I don’t know how my next coaching session will evolve.

Why then, do leaders assume that the next project will succeed? And why do teams believe that they’ll receive high-fives for pushing through?

It can happen.

But who can say he knows?

Expecting success is preparing oneself for failure.

The origin, however, is resisting the anxiety to fail and trying to protect oneself from it.

It tends to make success less satisfying and failure more devastating.

I don’t know doesn’t provide an answer but opens the door to the possible.
