What they know

An easy way to make sure that a task has been understood is to have the person describe what they are planning to do.

But what someone does may not be enough, especially if the question is to verify if everyone is aligned and has a similar idea of what it is they are trying to achieve together.

In such a situation it helps to ask the other what it is he is trying to achieve.

When asking such a question, beware of words like good, excellent, aligned, or similar. They are a way to hide what is not clear or not defined.
